Request, how to replace busted CV boot
ya. topic pretty much says it all..
i need to know if i can do it with all hand tools. or if air tools are needed, and can i do it in my driveway..
and how? (anyone have pictures of one done previously. or a diagram)
i have a busted inner driverside cv boot.. (atleast im 99% sure its busted, i have grease all over the block below it, only notice because i put my hand in it)
and when i am backing up it makes a weird knocking noise now and its definatelly coming from the driverside, and im assuming its the axel doing it.

I just got done with this problem myself. My g/f wrecked the car and tore the boot. You have two options. One, replace boot, two, replace axle. Either way, you have to take out the axle. If water or anything else got in, which it probably has, its better to replace the whole axle. I got mine on ebay for like $95. You can get a boot for like $10 off ebay. but, to repair it at a shop, cause you have to break down the axle, the labor will be expensive and be more than a new axle. Me and a friend took out the axle in mine in about 2 hours, and reinstalled it in 25 min plus clean up time. No power tools, just some ratchets and wrenches, something to pry with is good like a sheep's foot tool. PM me if you need some advice on it.
It's not that hard taking the axles out. doesnt take a lot of time...this link is for a clutch install but certain steps of it are to take out the drivers side and passenger side axles.
