Diagram request: EGR system
Diagram request: EGR system
I'm having some new CELs popping up like p0401, p0403 and need to start pulling things apart.
Does anyone have a diagram of the EGR system they could post? I can get by with pulling stuff apart and cleaning and sealing, but would like a diagram so I know what I'm looking at.
Also, could a p0421 code (bad cat) eventually trigger this p0401 EGR code? I'm wondering if bad cats restrict exhaust flow to an extent that it can jack up your EGR components in any way.
2002 Lancer ES
Thanks!

Found something basic, but good enough for me. Thought I'd update this myself.

I replaced all the small vacuum lines. Couldn't find anyone local that stocked metric hose and I think the 5/32 size is a hair loose so I bought 3 feet of air cooled VW braided fuel line from a local shop that specializes in VW stuff. The label says it's 3.5mm inside diameter, but it actually measured 3mm with a ruler I took with me. Fits perfectly. You can buy 3mm ID hose online, but I wanted to get it done.
When I cleaned the EGR, I attached that long hose I just bought and sucked on the line while spraying in Gum Out. Sucking on the line pulls the piston up so the cleaning fluid could run through the actual tiny opening.
Replaced the EGR valve gasket. This little $1.50 part isn't stocked by anyone around me so I had to have them order it.
This cleared my p0401 code.
For the p0403 I replaced the EGR solenoid, #6 on the diagram linked above. Rockauto.com has this for $30 shipped, called the "EGR solenoid valve". They call it DORMAN Part # 911850 valve #1. This cleared p0403.
