How can I stop the fan control module from cooking?

Hey guys, I am about to replace the Fan Control Unit in my 2005 ES Lancer and I was wondering before I do it, if anyone has any ideas on how to stop it from happening again. I have heard of people having to replace it multiple times and I was hoping someone knew how to stop it from being fried.

Ok, thanks I might give that a try, although the tape seems to be just as if not more expensive than the part its self

Check your local part stores. They may have cheaper heat-reflective alternatives.
