DDM slim ballast HID installation
I bought a HID slim ballast kit from DDM because I wanted HIDs badly and DDM was what was recommended. The kit was for 35Kw, 6K, H7 bulb style.
This is what the kit looked like when I got it:
Ballasts

Bulbs

Zip ties

Connectors which I didn't even use I didn't need to and I didn't know how to anyway

Everything needed was there. The kit came without instructions but everything was pretty straight forward. Nothing could really be messed up because the items only plugged into one area.
To make this easier I took the headlight off alittle bit to give me some more room to play with. I also bought some double sided pads that I have to put on the ballast to change their location.
First thing you need to do is figure out where to put the ballasts. I put mine on the same location on both sides. There is a small hole at the bottom by the battery and on the same exact location on the other side. I took a zip tie and put it through one of the mounting holes on the ballast and through the hole on the metal.
Driver's side

Passenger's side

Once you do that insert the bulb into where your old bulb used to be. My connections had melted so I had put some female quick connectors.
Male connectors goes into the female connectors on the headlight and the end result is the second picture:

I then made a hole on the headlight cover so that it doesn't get any moisture on it. I have to say it came out really darn good if I do say so myself on that. Looks good and custom, hehe

The next step is to take your connections and plug them in male to female:
You ignitor connections go together. Like I said you can't mess that up because they only fit their corresponding part.

I didn't take a picture of the male part on that but you can't mess it up.
You then take your ballast connections and you plugg them together and you'll be good to go.

Here is what it looks like during the day and at night.

My driver's side is not getting any power to it so I could only get pics of one headlight being on. Once I figure that out I'll put a new pics up.
I do have to say even with one headlight working the output, vision quality and just over all look is way better than before. I'm going to buy a kit for my foglights from DDM next.

If anyone has any questions, comments, or pics of their DDM kits post them up. It is really easy to install!!!!! It only took me about a half hour taking my time and the wife interrupting me to intall the kit.

ebay and Flip is selling his on the FS sections with HID already on it. When I buy the fog light ones I'll do a write up on it as well. I have to make a harness with a relay on it because the ebay one was cheap and it melted really quickly.

So if I understand this, you have lost the ability to use your high beams?
I see on DDM that the dual bulb is $20 dollars more, which is not bad, so it looks like all I need is the 9007/HB5 hi/low bulb, and I am gonna go with the 35w 5k setup.
My concerns are that the "controller" they mention is not some separate knob I need to run to my dash, and instead just refers to something that integrates into my existing system for switching between hi/low beams. Can anyone confirm what the setup entails? Also, I have read other places that the dual beams are longer and that concerns me for fitment. Can anyone confirm fitment for this setup on a 02 lancer headlight housing?

The reason I lost that ability was due to my headlights. They have separate bulbs for low and high beam. If you look at my headlights the high beams are closest to the grill, while my low beam is the one on. If you have the stock headlights you should be able to use the dual/bulb one.
So because I haven't done the install myself I can't full grasp your setup...does the kit make you lose the ability to use your high beams, or are you just using the stock halogen bulb for your highs?
Yeah, I am going to go with the dual beam kit and hope the bulb isn't too long. With regards to the kit and the knob question, it seems that the hi/low kit is just as simple as the low kit and relies on the stock switch for controlling the high and low beam...i just read the instruction guide to figure that out.

If you have projectors you'll need to get a separate HID kit for the high beams. If you have a stock headlight (9007 bulbs) you can get the hi/low beam set up.... if it fits the housing. Projectors have 2 different sets of bulbs which is why you need a second HID kit for the other set of bulbs.

I ordered it last night from BBM... 35watt 6k 9007 hi/low...I had said 5k before, but after reviewing more videos and images I went with the 6k's. I'll take a picture of the before and after. I wish I took a picture of the stock bulbs with the old headlights, but I didn't; I wish I did because the visibility is already improved on the stock halogen bulbs with new, clear lenses.

I got the hi/low kit. The kit comes with two lights, two ballasts and a relay harness, so no need to buy a relay harness, which is an option on DDM's website. I put these in the ebay black housing headlights I bought, and they fit just fine, so I am assuming they will fit the stock headlights just fine. I drove on the stock bulbs in the ebay headlights for a while, and I was already impressed what clean and new headlight lenses will do to improve visibility, so anyone jumping straight from stock, hazy lenses to new lenses and hid's will be pleasantly shocked at the difference. Lastly, the hi/low kit was worth the extra 20 bucks, IMO.
This is done on a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally in 30 to 60 minutes...
Tools I used:
--10mm socket, extensions n ratchet
--some zip ties, custom brackets or bolts to mount them
--Latex gloves (change them often)
Description of items:
Ballasts--three clips for the hid light, one for the relay
Lights--three matching clips for the hid light
Relay--long and short side
--long side to far side--ballast clip and body ground
--short side to battery side--ballast clip, body ground, red power wire w/ inline fuse, three wires (input wires)
Input Clip--no wires
Installation:
1. Unplug negative and positive batter terminals.
2. Remove the three bolts holding the headlight in.
3. Pull the headlights out of the frame, but do not unplug them or pull them all the way out.
4. Unclip the harness from the main headlight bulb.
5. Untwist the round securing bracket and set it aside.
6. Twist and pull out the stock bulbs and set them in storage as back up bulbs if you may need them in the future (don't touch them with greasy hands).
7. Carefully remove the cover on the HID bulb and slide the stock securing clip on the bulb (optional: put the foam cover back on the bulb for now).
8. (optional: remove the foam cover) Plug in and twist the HID bulb into the socket of the headlight then twist the securing bracket to lock the bulb in place.
9. Plug the three clips from the tail of the hid headlight bulb into the three clips of each ballast (note: impossible to mess up).
10. Run the long end of the relay to the ballast and plug it in, then find a bolt on the body to connect the ground wire to.
11. Plug the relay into the other ballast, then find a bolt on the body to connect the ground wire to (again, impossible to mess up or not know).
12. Use the blue clip and hold it with the flat side up and the back of the tip at you, and put the brown wire in the center until it clips in, put the white wire for the low beam on the right and the blue wire for the high beam on the left.
13. Plug this new clip into the stock headlight clip (note: this is for the system to get input to know to operate the high/low and on/off, thus, it is not necessary, and therefore, there is NO clip for the other side of the car, so don't worry).
14. Bolt down the power wire that has the inline fuse onto the terminal harness of the positive terminal.
15. Reconnect the positive battery terminal.
16. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
17. Turn on the car and turn on your lights and brights to test everything out (note: the car may need to be on for a few seconds to charge the ballasts; in fact, my lights seem to take about 10 seconds to fully power up before I get maximum brightness, and then I can turn the car off and on without delay in the lights lighting up).
18. Fix **** if it doesn't work...check your grounds and connections.
19. If it works then mount the ballasts and reinstall the headlights (note: best to do this with the negative battery terminal off for safety.).
20. Drive around with your new lights.
Hope this helps.
