Exclamation 2 switch + button start mod

My bro and i just did this mod since my ignition switch stopped working so instead of replacing it, might as well do this, enjoy!!! i did not find any instructions anywhere so ill put it mine.

Wires:color - what it does - location
White - 12v - Ignition harness
Blue/White - Accessories - Ignition harness
Black/White, Blue/Black - Ignition - ignition harness
Black/Yellow - Starter - Ignition harness

From here its pretty much straight forward:

...
***We used 12 gauge cables***
*** 2 20 amp Switches***
*** 15 amp 12v Push Button***
*** Connectors ***
FYI dont try to be cheap its not worth it (Experience)

For Switch one:

White+Blue/White : Accessories

Switch 2

White+Black/White-Blue/Black : Ignition

Push Button

White+Black/Yellow : Starter

This is how we connected it to the Ignition Harness:

The finished project:

And the button:

And that was all it hope this helps someone and if ou have any questions dont hesitate to ask!!!!

OMG!!! i seriously love you mate!! i just bought an evo 8 from the auctions as a repairable write off and the ignition is gone!! i think it was stolen then recovered and the insurance company put it for sale at the auctions.

anyway, i always knew it was possible to wire in switches like track cars and etc, to get it started. especially finding a barrel is hard and expensive and im confused if i have to get a matching immobiliser with the replacement barrel and dont wana risk big money and i havent even got the car started to check the engine and etc.

what i wanted to ask was:
if i do wire those switches will the alarm go off? especially when i go to turn them on?
do i still need a barrel to wire in so i can use a key to unlock the steering wheel?(no other possible way of unlocking steering wheel?

is it possible if you send me more details? thanks heaps!!

judging by that..you probably will need it just to put the key into place to unlock the wheel.

Also, if your going to do this, maybe wire up a kill switch hidden somewhere just incase. so you have an extra security measure against thieves!

i agree but i think its enough security for where i live, plus u need the key and steering wheel or else you cant steer, i really didnt see a need for a kill switch

to be honest i dont know, but i dont see why the alarm should go off, if you turned it off to open the car.

im not sure about that, i know there is a way but it involves removing to many items on the steering column, but i think if you remove the key cylinder it should unlock the steering wheel, i could be wrong dont believe to much,

Definitely - it's totally dependent on your location. I'm in a city full of kids with itchy fingers! ha
