OEM Look, Basslink Powered.

Hey ladies and gents,

This is my first actual post, although I've been in the shadows reading everything the search button has to offer. I'm a newbie to car audio and my strength goes towards DSM 4G63 building.

My thoughts are this: Rockford Fosgate in my Outlander (family swag) is..well, overkill for my audio needs. Seriously. It's more then enough.

However, I also have an 04' RA Non-SSL that I love to keep stock looking (I even took off the eyelids and RRM UDP that came with the car).

I did some research and I would like to get a little more then the internal amp powered headunit has to offer. This is just a conversation I'd like to have with you guys, not a "Hey where do I find this?" or "Is this cool? <insert webpage link>"

Picked up an SSL headunit and these are the plans:
  • MITAH Harness to Basslink II w/4 channel expansion
  • 6.5" Infinity references (Non-SSL had tweeters hardwired to fronts, correct?)

Now, I read all the "Just upgrade your headunit" posts and I know how horrible the FUSO truck headunit looks but I'm a sucker for OEM for my RA. The DSM gets all the show and go attention, this gets me to work and back.

I plan on posting pics of the install and the verdict. Again, this is just a project I want to contribute for those that want to bridge the gap between OEM and ***** Out.

I'd really like to see the discussion on this, as I know many of you have awesome audio credibility and you pretty much talked me through my audio install through your posts at some point. Thanks!

Oh, if someone can just confirm...I got the wiring diagrams for both SSL and Non-SSL. I plan to hard wire the front/rears with speaker wire to the Basslink, and get a Metra harness to hack up for headunit power. Last, use the MITAH harness to give the amp power up and signal.

I don't know about your wiring plans, but if it all works out you will like the result. I have a Basslink in my S&S RA, and am very happy with it. Just enough extra bass to enjoy turning it up once in a while, without having to fill the trunk up with a heavy sub box.

I have an adapter cable running my OEM amp and speakers, and the sub outs from my Alpine deck run the Basslink.
