question about window tint
question about window tint
Hey guys
im back after about 1.5 year of absence
today i wanted to go tint my windows
question ...
whats the most common % of tint that people get?
i dont want it too dark - but i dont want it light either
in fact what i was thinking is do the back darker than the front (fron side:P)
is it worth to mix? or should i just do same all around ?
any pictures would be GREATLY appriciated
thank you for time

Around here, legal tint is whatever you want on the back, and 50% on the front side windows, but 30% on the back is average and not too dark, with 50% in the front. When I say back, I mean back side windows and back window.
i am not too sure what mine is, i think its 35%, its not too dark nor too light. here is a pic of it. you can check more in my registry (link in my signature)

The lower the %, the darker the tint. The percentage is a measure of light transmittance - the amount of light that is being transimmitted through the glass. Hence, 5% tint is saying that only 5% of the incident light is passing through the glass - this is Limo tint. Every state has there own limits. In Utah, the legal limit on the front two windows is 43% and whatever you want on the back three. In Michigan, whatever you want for the back three, but you can only have 4" of tint from the top of the glass whatever you want. Every state has a legal limit of some kind for the fronts, but most states if not all of them allow whatever you want on the rear three. There are also laws about the windshield i.e. how far down from the top you can tint.

I used to have 35% on the fronts and 5% on the back. There was too much difference between the front and rear windows. You could easily tell the front windows were a lot lighter than the back. I now have 20% on the front and 5% on the back and it looks much better. Basically, whatever you choose, choose tints that are fairly close together. I know a lot of people that run 20% all around and are happy with it. Also, a dark eyebrow makes the front windows look a little darker.
