Went up to willow springs raceway this weekend for the open track event through N.A.S.A. (click on the link in my sig for more info) and it was my first time doing anything like this, and by all means the first time ive seen a base lancer out on the track. to my suprise my car did really great, with all my suspension mods i really held my own out there, there were cars that had way more horsepower then me but had to let me pass them because on the turns because they were holding me back, cars like SRT4's, miatas. pt cruiser turbo, mini cooper typeS WRX's, Porche boxsterS and at one point when my instructor was driving my car an ACURA NSX had to let me pass him, he wasnt too happy, this just goes to show that its not the car in a race, its the driver. i was really impressed with my car, and even my instructor told me my car handles really really well for a front wheel drive car.

I started in class 1 of course on the first day, but by the end of the weekend, they told me i was ready to be in class 3 (out of 4) problem is i need a faster car haha

oh and a side note, that corvette Z06 is supercharged and howels on the straights, he was hitting 150mph at one point

the lotus lost control at on point and went straight into a steep hill, broke the bottom of his front bumper right off

I was topping out at about 102mph in 4th gear on the straights using 100 octane

 

haha, i have video footage from my dad filming on the sidelines, great part of me taking out an SRT4 on a turn, my dad is yelling "go matt go!!!" haha, but yeah, im lazy to cut up the video, i just stuck it on a dvd, but next month at california speedway i might mount a camera. whats a good site to host video?

Sweet! I know my car handles freakin sweet with my suspension mods, and handled even better after the alignment. What our lancer's lack in speed gain it all back in those corners!

Looks like you had a good time, I cant wait for the summer so I can hit the track a couple of times a month again.

 

awesome. Good job beating some higher end cars. Lancers are do handle very well with some decent suspension mods. Definitely would be cool to see some video next time.
