Custom Semi CAI intake
Custom Semi CAI
Dunno if this is the right place to put it...
Anyways, im relatively young and I dont quite have much money... SOO I did a CAI cheaply, $26... with donation. My friend left his Civic pipe + filter at my house and forgot about it for a month so I decided to stick it into my car hehe. It has a vacuume hole thing that one of my other friends had a plug for, fitted perfectly. So on with the pics, you will see why I say semi CAI in a second.
YAY FOR DUCT TAPE!

Dont wanna clutter the rest of the board with useless pics that some people might not want to see so links are going up!

Filter from under the car
Holder bracket
Expenses:
MAS Adapter Plate, $20 (ordered online, shipping was big and my friend that orders stuff for me online charges a bit extra >.<)
4" - 2" coupling, $7 (2 inches is a bit small for the pipe, hence the duct tape, gonna go back to Home Depot tomorrow and get a 4" - 3" coupling)
Horray! First post! First mod!
Meh...
(Yes, I do realize that the topic says "CAI intake"... >.< IM TIRED!)

First off, welcome to the forum. You look like a model citizen and all newbies should take after you! I mean, look at the cleanliness of your first post! It's in a relevant forum. You've got good spelling and grammar. You didn't post *****, not only that but you linked your other pics to save dialup users.
Second, nice install! I can't tell from the overhead pic, but how far down does the filter element sit? It seems like it sits about the same height of the radiator. My suggestion would be to add a little more piping so you can stick it down below the driver's side headlight. Prolly get some better airflow down there.

go with ghostriders idea, cept since you're going semi-ghetto I have a suggestion that "might" help some.. since I was thinking of doing this, but have absolutly no time atm... anyways here it is
Take out the fake mesh insert in bumber, maybe use dryer ducting from home depot to re-route air from that hole over to where filter is, however, this was my idea for a cold-air SRI for automatics that can't get a CAI cause of tranny issues. I could go into more detail about the CA-SRI, but its useless since you have a home made CAI instead!

I noticed some difference in the high RPM range. Kinda picks up at around 3.5 - 4k. As for the sound, its a nice deep tone but only when I go heavy a bit on the gas. If its a light touch then its not that noticeable.
The filter sits a bit lower than the front headlights, about an inch or two below this gold wire like thing. Dont really know what it is heh.

Ahh, now I get what you mean about the headlight thing. Ill look into some extra piping.
