Those of you with the evo VII hood

So with the accolade evo VII hood there is that cut out under the grill held up with screws and nuts. I would like to take it out and have air coming threw the grill, But i was wondering could it damage my engine with rain comin in there? Cause i live in florida and it rains alot and i dont want to damgae anything. Also i have a short ram and if the piece is out you can see part of my filter. Just curious as to if it would be ok or not to take it out

I have the evo VIII hood from seibon. I have driven with the vent open all summer. No problems with rain. I have a SRI and the rain hits it (It was worn away the red color of the filter). No issues so far.

edit: Thats weird. I havnt had an issue at all. And ive driven in terrential downpours...
