If you can install a dome light, you can install one of these plug-and-play HID's! They install exactly the same way a stock bulb does, and they start as low as $35! The bulbs are available for a huge variety of popular cars like the Lancer Evolution, WRX and 350Z, to name but a few.

this company also has plans on doing universal kits so if u dont see ur application on the site send them a email and a universal kit will work
they mention u should be able to use the universal kit for your license plate also.

Thats where my dome light is (by the rear view mirror). I have a light then two "map" lights. of course I have a 03 and I have a sunroof which may change the location. Im not positive.
Yea...my last Lancer had a sunroof and there was a map/dome light by the mirror. Now my Lancer doesn't have a sunroof and it's in the middle of the roof. Definitley the difference. I miss my sunroof 
if u have the sunroof and have the map lights then u order the one for the evo's...the evo's have the map lights in the front by the rear view mirror
this company sent me those also but i have the 02 OZ w/o sunroof so i dont have maplights just the 1 dome light in the middle
