ever since school started i've been driving 150 miles every weekend commute between berkeley and san jose. curbed a couple times both doing stupid stuff and being careless... and loads of rocks flying at my rims on the freeway... these are the reason why my konig flatlines had been quickly beaten to death...
this morning, i dropped by autozone for some degreaser and a bag of rag, then went to home depot where a large variety of different types and colors of paint are avaliable~ i picked up
-a can of "rust-olem" industrial primer (labeled to be applied on bare metal and previously painted surfaces),
-a can of dark gold-bronze-ish color "metal" paint,
-and some rust-olem clear coat.
i took out two rims on the same side and had my car on jack stands, and cleaned the rims with the degreaser. I also had to sand like crazy because of the curb marks.... i used 60grit, then 150, followed by 300. i then applied 4 coats of primer, with 5-10 minutes in between coats, and went to watch "American Jake Long"... came back and applied 3-4-ish coat of the color... and waited another 30-ish minutes before applying 2 coats of clear.
i only painted 2 today... takes quite a while...so i'll finish up tomorrow
oh and it turned out i didnt buy enough paint... either i used too much, or maybe i needed 2 cans of each to begin with...

Looks Great - the color and the wheel style........I think that you will find that the paint will not hold up well.........I use a powder coating service that will do a set of wheels for between $300 - $400 depending on how much prep is invlolved......any color you want in a very durable finish.........once I get a few more nicks on my BBS's, I plan on having them powder coated in high gloss black!
