Hub-Cap revival

Hey, i'm new 'round here, and I just recently got my Lancer ES (2003) from the dealer. However, when I picked up the car, the hubcaps were seriously curb-rashed. Having just bought the car (and being fairly indebted as a result) i've not got the cash to get rims that aren't stock! So, what to do? I actually was able to refinish the stock hubcaps from curb-rash hell to new-appearing using the heaviest grit sandpaper I could find and some spray-paint. Anyway, incase anyone cares, here's some pics of a new (stock) hub-cap and a repainted one (on the right)

I also took the liberty of (very carefully) painting the Mitsubishi logo in the center of the caps red. Let me know what you think (if you care )

Well... they look good for being stock, and as long as your having fun, and doing the best with WHAT you have, im all for it. I like them.. but as soon as you can.. please, buy rims and tires

Good luck with your car

Well, I figured these are fine for the frigid winter up here anyway. Never know when the car might just delelop a bit of a push and scrape something. Anyway, Like I say, i'll likely get summer tires and use the steel rims and tires for winter driving. But i'll say, if provoked, the tail end of this sucker will slide quite nicely All I need now is to get the damn hvac control fixed so the windows aren't fogged up and I don't have to have the bloody thing on the top speed blowing in my face...

Wow those came out great lol mine are also really curbrashed really really bad.. so bad that my steelies are bent from hitting curbs..

It was my mothers car before i got it so she thinks hitting the curb is a great way to park =/

so all u did was just sand the entire hubcap and just spray them? u also clearcoated?

Well...I sanded the curbrashed parts, because some of them were really deep, I had to use a file on some, the rest of the hubcaps I just used steel wool. As for clear coat, I didn't really like they way they looked with clear coat, so I just used a couple coats of spray paint. I used Krylon Rust Tough Enamel in 49213 Aluminum because it was the closest match to my car (which is also silver).
