wreck pictures and future plans
let me start by saying OH MY F'ING GOD IT'S COLD OUTSIDE.
this is either a testament to my dedication... or to my stupidity. who in their right mind installs a HOOD in weather that's -15 to -20 with wind gusts up to 50 MPH? me!
the hood is AWESOME. it was the exact one i wanted, too. i love the evo VII style. for shipping it was packed up wrapped in foam and bubble wrap. the corners were protected with more foam taped on with this tape that was like bandage tape... big pain in the *** to get off even if it was cold. no big deal. this gave me an excuse to wax the thing in my basement.
my biggest issue was that the hood is simply constructed differently from a stock hood. the front of it where you put the grille is just too thick to put in anything other than the grille that comes with the hood. the grille that comes with the hood is a modified g-string grille done up in carbon fiber and black mesh. don't get me wrong--it looks great as well, but i was really dying to use that ralliart grille i'd worked so hard on.
fitment was such a pain in the ***. this was not due to the construction of the hood, but due to the fact that it was extremely windy outside. i also determined that the previous owner took the liberty of screwing up the front end as well as the rear end for me. i had always wondered why there was an extra bolt on the driver's side of the hood holding it to the brackets there--now i know why. the arm that the hood is bolted to is bent and when you install the hood with both bolts where they SHOULD go the hood won't close.
after i figured out my little puzzle i tightened down the bolts on each side and closed it. FINALLY. i then proceeded to walk right into my license plate frame on the driver's side and smash my leg all up. the gap between the hood and fenders is a little larger than the stock hood, but it will just take a little getting used to. this is not after all a stock hood.
the thing looks great and i can't wait to get the scratch on my bumper painted over... then i need to wash the car real good. when i get the bumper painted i will probably have the wing painted all yellow as well.
it's way too cold for my camera to make it three feet past the front door, so here's a picture i snapped from the second floor of the house. looks like crap... but it's the best i can do for now.

the ralliart grille is now for sale btw. i won't be needing it.

Sorry to hear about your accident. That really sucks, however I just wanted to let you know that when I read the story and saw the Mass licence plate I laughed a little cause there are some wack drivers in mass. Good luck with the repairs
you can say that again. MA divers suck pretty bad. i'm scared to drive the car around now that i have all new stuff on there! haha.
i accomplished my goal of getting the car repaired before i go back to work so i don't look like a schmuck. i start training at the new job tomorrow afternoon at 1... so now when i show up people should say "damn!" for the right reasons.

still need that headlight, too? i've got it boxed up in the kitchen. i really don't want to go back downstairs since i will have to clean up the mess from all the packing material from the hood, haha.
nah i don't think i'm gonna take the headlight. i don't have the money, plus i would have to find a single headlight for the other side, i think i will wait till i have some cash and buy a pair. Thanks for the offer though.
is that the VIS hood? Cos thats what i'm getting.

it came drop shipped from import trenz, and it's got a carbon trix logo on the underside.
maybe i will be able to find someone like me who only would have needed one headlight.

i may have to drill a hole into it so i can rig it up like the body shop who fixed the car when i didn't own it rigged up the stock hood.
i'm going to double check the bolts in a few minutes once i warm up, and then i'll call it officially finished. i want to make sure everything is squared away since i have to do some highway driving tomorrow.

i suppose i could... it might help the fit in the front end since i had to take out the little bump stopper things. i should just get a hydraulic arm and use hood pins... hmm...
Thats the hood I wanted, with the evo VII intake vent but I dont like the look of the VIS grill... Would take quite a bit of customizing to get another to fit like you said. looks good man. It makes your car more aggressive for sure.
We deffinitely need to get a shoot this summer. CF hoods side by side will look good. lol

well from what i've researched the VIS grill comes right off. and you can stick any other kind in there. I saw a few other guys had Ralliart grills installed, which is what i plan on doing
