tar on my bumper

Ok, I went home on leave for 2 weeks, to MN, land of road construction. Anyways, out driving one day, and go up and over a little hill, right as i get on the other side, there's no warning of road work, or anything, but they are filling in some holes and cracks with tar. well i'm going about 35-40, can't stop so, slowed down a little bit, and looked at my car afterwords. there is tar on my bumper, and on the bottoms of my mirrors... what is the best way to get this crap off? All help appreciated.

If you want to remove it without affecting the finish (wax, polish and whatnot), use detailing clay. Most chemicals that will cut through a petroleum based tar will also cut through the finish on the car.

3M Adhesive Remover, comes in a metal can with nozzle tip. Great for removing anything that doesn't belong stuck to the paint.

just fyi pretty much any petrol product will work for removing tar, hell even gasoline (not that you should use gas).
