damn VII wing!

bryce, i'm going to come to maine to yell at you! my wing died!

the other day i was following my girlfriend out to her house and when we got there the exchange was similar to:

: your wing fell down!

: yeah, not funny.

(then i turned around)

: *curse words*

all the while it was getting ready to pour outside and there was tons of thunder and lightning what seemed like right above our heads.

what had happened was that where you screw the bolts in on the edges of the wing are really just some threaded metal pieces sunken into the plastic... which can just come right out of said plastic... and which DID. i went to pick the wing up and the other side immediately fell down leaving the bolts and the metal pieces attached to the posts. i got everything apart and got all the pieces back in the wing, applied some quick set epoxy and let that dry. i tried to re-assemble the damn thing and it fell apart again. more cursing was done and i just packed the damn thing up in the back seat of the car.

i don't want to just put my stock OZ wing on since i already installed the evo third brake light--and i don't want two third brake lights now. and i can't just take it out because i totally chewed up the rear deck... my exact words were "f-it no one is ever going to see under this thing again anyway. big mistake.

i don't REALLY want to go wingless but that may be my solution. i'll get some pics up later once i figure out what i want to do with the car. i will also get some pics of the wing. if i wasn't rushed because of the thunderstorm i might have fixed it. there's not much that needs to be done to the thing to make it solid again... i'm just totally frustrated by that damn thing. two different paint schemes and countless headaches later i think i'm finally through with the thing.

needless to say the wing is for sale. shipping will be kind of a pain especially since i'm starting a temporary job in the city so i won't be home a lot... but i'll work something out if anyone wants to buy it. shoot me offers via PM or wait until i get a thread up in the for sale section.

when it was in one piece i think it looked GREAT... but the way it was put together... not so much so!

i'm putting the stock OZ wing back on. i'm kind of glad no one ever bought it and it was kicking around in my basement, haha.

edit: if anyone wants to buy the wing as-is it's $105 plus shipping: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh....php?p=4609170

i never wanted a VIII wing, since the VII and the 02-03 US lancers shared the same body style i wanted to keep it close to the real evo in looks. i like the CF from the VIIIs but i didn't want to stray from the VII look.

the biggest pain in the *** was fixing up the rear deck since i'd drilled holes in there for the evo VIII third brake light i put on. the brake light is also for sale... it's held together mostly by duct tape inside--but it fit pretty well with the modifications i did to it.

oh i thought about it.

i secured some grey fabric to a little piece of wood and glued it to the rear deck to cover the hideous-*** holes i made when i put in the evo third brake light. it looks nice and clean now but i don't think i'd ever remove that to put the light back.

i did consider a CF trunk with a rexspeed lip... it would look nice. a bit pricey though. i don't have any money for the lancer right now aside from the car and insurance payments.

nah, i'm just going to sell it. too much of a headache for me... and naturally it screws itself up when i'm going to be working and will have zero free time. someone is going to enjoy the thing after they put like 30 minutes of work into it.

I just started a post because I can't stand my EVO VII wing anymore (had one for like 3 years with the CF middle deck), so I just ordered a CF Rexspeed Type-C spoiler, which should cover the holes from the VII. I'll let you know how it works out since it would be a good way to solve your problem of holes in the trunk instead of getting a CF trunk, which was my original decision. Good luck.
