my buddy with his 03 lancer mounted them on this frame next to the headlight since it was 3m tape on it.....i know thats were i've seen evos and many other cars....im getting mine here in a few weeks...

 

I mounted mine to the side of the headlight itself. Easiest place to mount it and plenty of room.

i was gona drill holes into the bottom of the headlight and seal around the hole with silicone..

because i dont see much room in there.

but would much rather not drill holes

i took off my fenders and put mine in there , a real clean look because you cant see them

 

sseriously bud, if you do NOT want to drill holes, use 3M double sided tape and slip it whereever it will fit. As for 2002-2003, there are spot right under the headlight itself, which is ideal for a clean install. As for your generation, my friend's lancer seems to have the same kind og open area. good luck!
