CUSTOM HeatShield & RRM SRI (Pics & Video)

So I thought I was finished with under the hood after painting & then receiving and installing my RRM SRI (Wed. 05/14/08). But I was wrong...today I worked on a Custom heatshield for the intake which didnt take to long at all. I love the sound and performance of the SRI, but I do believe this really helps with keeping hot air from the engine away and the cold air directly into the intake, overall benefiting the performance of the SRI. Also, I think it turned out looking pretty nice.
Had problems with uploading pics of the engine bay so just check out my cardomain for pictures and the video of the SRI w/ the CUSTOM HeatShield

neat... but uhm... how are you getting air past the heat shield and into the intake? By the stock snorkel? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the SRI if you're restricting the air flow to it with the stock snorkel?

Good idea over all though

its not restricting the air flow its restricting the hot air coming from the engine going directly into the intake. Air is everywhere so its not like its being restricted, its not all the way to the roof either so plenty air gets to it...just not hot air directly from the engine...sure its hot but not near as hot as from the engine, thus allowing the intake to perform better. Air comes in from under the car, through the grille, and through the very top of the hood near the windshield so getting air isnt a problem. I guess you obviously havent seen the K&N intake they are working on, its the same concept. Glad you like the idea tho.

Nope I thought that out ...if you pay close close attention its right under the strut bar but sealed (air can still get in from behind strut bar)and only about an inch or inch and a half above the stock air duct and above the MAF sensor and all. I guess you would have to see it in person but I really like it...I took time and did it right it is perfectly sealed underneath and everything.
