Began painting my rims...

So I finally got around to painting my rims... doing a thorough job... painting the entire rim, inside and out... so it takes a bit longer... with that being said... I'm only half done.. would be done it all but something came up and now the weather is being gay and supposed to rain for the next week or so...

Here they are though... 2 are done (as you'll see) the other 2 are sanded down a bit and cleaned, ready to paint just waitin on good weather or some free time to bring it to my dads work and spray it there... probably this friday..

All the pictures show a comparison to the stock (however the stock one is sanded so won't have the glossy finish but just a colour comparison..)

Inside of rim
Outside of rim
Painted with center cap

The cap is just "sitting" in place. it's not actually popped in... and it is slightly off colour.. need to redo it with another coat or so...

edit - the pictures are really high resolution. sorry for those with slow internet

lol i painted them white. i sanded pretty much untill the shine was gone from the stock coat. First using sandpaper (320) and then a red scuff thing. Both of these my dad got from his work. (factory that builds office furniture we took all the tape and stuff we needed from there haha)

After sanding with the sandpaper and the scuffpad thing. wiped with a paper towel to get rid of the majority of dust, then a damp paper towel of paint thinner to ensure it was clean.

I used duplicolour high performance wheel paint (takes quite a bit if you paint the inside too).

These white rims will be going on my electric blue GTS

His car is electric blue. Those rims look great. White rims are really growing on me, especially on a blue or yellow car. Can't wait to see how they turn out

I think that white rims look horrible on yellow cars, but that's just me. I haven't seen them on a blue car yet, but I bet it will look very nice.

lol i find it funny that it was asked twice in this thread what colour my car is... :P
I'm probably gonna finish painting them tomorrow at my dad's work factory place... get away from all this rain XP. I'll take pictures of them when they're done, tape all gone and stuff (i peeled back the tape on one a little bit and the darkness of the tire makes the white look even better lol)

When i get them on my car.. i'll get pictures up asap... probably within a day lol. thanks for all the positive comments ^_^

Sorry, the weather's been ****ty and i wasn't able to paint it at my dads work place. The owner was in and ya....

I'm going to try to do it today. If not it HAS to be done tomorrow as the weather gets bad again after that >_<

I didn't use any primer.. my dad didnt think it was necessary. It looks fine without the primer. I spent about $9/can. But i also painted the inside of the rim (which is alot of surface area) so I had to use a bit more. Thus far I've spent ~$40. Hopefully I don't have to go out and get another can of clear or something
