best shot for autox'n imo is sway bar some stiffer springs nice tires(bigger rims arent better, tires are the key) strut bars are in the myth category to me. remove a cat with either a header or testpipe short shifter and then you'll be lovin it...momo shift knobs are love to me. cant live without one. but if you want the better ride without going deep in the pocket. look up amby's route on how to go with your car it helps knowin how far your gonna go with your car ex: just reg daily driver not going to track i'd go springs n struts...gonna take it all the way wit turbo and need the steering tein or jic full coilovers . thats when u notice price from 350$ for kyb's and 220 for tein stechs =770$ compared to 1300 or so for teins once again check out ambys thread. good luck

Sway bars (or rather sway bar since you can only upgrade the rear) make a major difference to the handling of the car. Springs are debatable since they don't necessarily increase performance. Removing a cat is a waste of time and just makes noise but it is a cheap mod so that is certainly an option.

Yea unfortunatly i can't/don't want to do any mods that could make me louder (my neighbor works with civics and runs them recklessly and noisly down our street) the people/and myselft don't like that and i feel that by making my car louder i would only be joining him. A nice quiet growl would be ideal tho.

I agree about the sway bar, probably made the biggest difference in the handling of my ES. Sway bar and some sticky tires and you won't be able to stop smiling... until you have to refill the gas tank.

You could always get a new stereo system. I wouldn't mind getting a new stereo just to upgrade.

where to go? to a dealership to trade it in before you lose anymore money on it. or better yet, to a bad part of town to let somebody steal it so you can collect the insurance money to put toward a real car. you'll get more money that way because if you try to sell or trade it, you'll likely get laughed at. good luck with that.

hey OldRiver05ES, we've got the same rims...lol!!! mine are black though

anyways, you're looking for an autoxer and dd, well, amby's post is a real good place to start, it'll get expensive to do a lot, but even me who's slightly income challenged right now (paying for my younger days' idiotic credit mistakes), I had a decent sized tax return and it all went into the car, then I go back to smaller mods (in the vicinity of 200 bucks a mod) until next year when I'm hoping to put recaros in the car...

but right now, my car handles and is pretty quick for an auto with no *****, but I will say the BEST and I mean absolute BEST investment were my coilovers and sway bar, 1300 bucks for both, but it makes the difference.

you want to autox? get coilovers, sway bar and tires, and if you're a manual, put a header on it with a full cat back and an intake (header can switch out in 30 min for when you take it off the track), short shifter and you should be able to roll with the slightly modded honda crowd...hell, you should be able to out-handle them, Honda's are great, but I think the Lancer handles better if you've got the right set up...I don't know from personal track experience but my auto can keep up with civics that aren't heavily modded on the freeway, so, i guess that's good enough for me, gas mileage is good when I'm not on it hard, and it looks pretty from the outside, so, if an auto Lancer ES can do it, I'm sure anything can!

oh, and my goal with the car was just to enjoy it long enough to pay it off and save for an evo...might as well put some money into it with the possibility of carrying it over...

only fc3s that is good is s5 t2. and thas rare to find and atkins rotary is pretty decent price on motor plus install and if u dont have a t2 body and wanna put t2 in have fun with differential and driveshaft at minimum in installin! -worked on fc's and now havin fun workin on the renesis! plus they run too hot and one time mistake of heating will warp your housing and cause you to go back and buy another motor. so fc3s... baddd choice! plus hard to pass emissions and any aftermarket exhaust is too loud to lead u further away into buyin rotary.
i say keep lancer dd wit sprint springs or teins would make it clean on stance some dynamat decent speakers n deck with tints and you got a clean lookin ride.
oh even better fc3s only 2 seater unless u carryin 2 babies in back seats or 3foot 5 inches tall lol!!
