Painting stock brake systems is part of the definition of rice. Now that being said I will admit to painting mine also. I had engine enamel laying around so I hit them up. To avoid confusion and being associated with the rice crowd I used black. Minnesota is tough on cars and the drums and calipers were rusty looking through my wheels. Black makes it look clean (the most important factor IMO) and doesnt draw attention to a stock braking system. Any other color and your liable to get a rice ticket or someone looking at them and shaking their head.

alright, so what brands and types of paint are good?
also, are they spray paint? or a bucket that you paint on with a brush?
also, how hard is it to paint the front calipers, do you just unscrew the wheel, take it off and paint away?

SICKdimension: you can get caliper paint or engine paint. BTW its spray paint. If you want to do a good job you can take the caliper off, but you can also cover the disc with newspaper or whatever and paint it.

ok, i dont know anything about it so i'd just cover everything with newspaper. but you just take the wheel off, paint it, then screw the wheel back on? do you have to align it or something?

PS. i just realized you were the guy i was talkin to a while ago about paintin the calipers. the pics look nice!

yeahh man its me. hi....... make sure your disk is well covered. be patient while doing it paint it once let it dry out and repeat it two times more if u want it to look good. i suggest you to not use the car for the rest of the day so the paint dries out good. no man u dont have to aling it.

you can kinda see mine behind my Tenzo R's. I personally think that it looks good to paint them...like I say, to each his own.

I would say paint them the color you want them.....if you don't likey....paint them black(could never go wrong with black) and your drums and calipers would in a way be protected like airline's. My friend has her drums rusting on her Lancer they are going to need some sanding and repainting
