Wheel weights
I was considering getting new rims because I have a set of Racing Hart C2 Evo's and I figured because of all the spokes and the way they were nicely polished that they were heavy beasts and only good for shows.
So I began checking out other rims and weights etc. Well imagine my surprise when I found out that 17" Volk Gram Lights are 18lbs and as it turns out my RH EVO C2's are 20.1 lbs.
I just thought this I would share this stupid observation with you.....if you assume a rim to be much lighter that usually isn't the case:
17" Volk TE37's are 15 lbs while the Gram "Lights" are 18. Talk about false advertising...

Don't fall into the "light wheel" trap. Unless you have a race car, there is no need for light weight wheels. Those wheels are not made to be used for daily driving hitting potholes, railroad tracks etc... The race track is a controlled venue with little to no real road bumps. My company sells race tires as it's main focus, and I'm at the track every weekend mounting and fitting wheels and tires. Most race wheels on sedan type cars are 18-22lbs. The cars are just too heavy and the wheel can't take the load. So don't buy into all the "jones'n" over some light weight wheel that in the end isn't meant to be used for normal street applications.
