Then might I suggest a tire with a slightly higher aspect ratio?

Next time you're in the market for tires, see how a 225/50/18 or 225/55/18 looks.
I think a 50 should do a good job of cutting down your wheel well gap, not to mention
you'd get a smoother ride.
