I just feel a basic plate looks best, with nothing around it unless just chrome. I dunno actually its kinda cool. To each their own, your own personal style is best! I just maybe would take it off, but thats just me.

it creates a shadow effect, so that you can tell there is something there, but its not as obvious as if you had them chrome, i would say painting them on the car would be easier, but you have to be real carefel not to overspray any paing onto your clearcoat, taking them off would be easier, i am not sure what you would use to put them back on, i just wanted mine off, they won't be going back on, lol, and when you go to paint them make sure you scar up the chrom real well so it smokes the crhome out, otherwise you won't get a good stick for your primer and paint

i debadged mine cuz i think it looks sleeker, just better overall, that is my reason, i'm sure everyone has their own reason for doing it.

I feel like it makes the back end just look cleaner, its nice because the plate doesn't sit way up like a lot of cars or the 04-06 lancers so its not a cluster party up there. Just gives it a solid clean look I feel. I just don't like LANCER across the back or that OZ badge, its ugly. I leave the Mitsu symbol though I just like it. Cleaning it up I think makes the car look more solid too and leaves people curious as to what you have.

Most people do it for the look it gives off. Thats what I did. I have an 04. I debadged the lancer and es part. Left the Mits emblem.
