Winter Project...nearly complete
Winter Project...nearly complete
So over the winter, I picked up a really beat-assed up set of rally used rims from some local Lancer rally guys here. Killer deal, but they were, as mentioned, beat assed up.
I've been running rally tires in the summer for the last couple years simply because they were cheap and the local track eats tires like nobody's business. Also, the roads here are more often than not more pothole than road, and I did alot of driving on gravel roads at the time due to my work.
Anyway, here is the 'before' photo. As you can see, the rims are really chewed up quite badly

After sanding

First couple coats

After shot

another rim done (3 of the 4 tires are Hankook gravel tires, hard compound, this one is a Michelin soft compound gravel tire, which I ran last summer)

I'm just waiting on the lugs I ordered and the weather to warm up a bit, as these tires are catastrophically crappy in the snow and ice. 'Nother week or so and I should have them mounted up.

yeah, I should have mentioned, the point wasn't to get all the dents and dings out, because they will be more dented and dinged by the end of summer anyway. These are for flogging on the track and gravel if they organize any dirt auto x-s this year
