Front ashtray in the center console

Okay I don't smoke. No one is allowed to smoke in my car(except my wheels). My plan is to redesign that ashtray up front to the left of the lighter. It has a light in it already, and a nice looking cover. What should I do with it? hmmm.... I'm thinking some serious controls in there. I want to make a console type thing I can change. I'm thinking amp control, boost control, light effects, and things of that nature. It's a good way of hiding some things so my car doesn't look that 'attractive'.

Has any1 done this? Is it a good idea? Are there existing kits already? RRM make a carbon fiber one and I will love you long time!

I think it's a good idea, all I do know is keep quaters in it for tolls and stuff, another good place might be that cool little box to the bottom left of the steering wheel.

Oh ya, next to the dimmer switch. That's a good idea seeing as I don't think the ashtray will be enough room for everything I want. Perhaps I should split them up, the left of steering wheel box for performance controls like boost and other adjustments. Then just use the ashtray for lighting, audio, and show-off type stuff.

as far as ausio controls you can buy head units that have them built in. but i would recommend one of those little EQs from KENWOOD. Those are really cool. hope that helps. and you can actually run that off the factory head unit with an RCA adaptor. it will have the fade control already built in and you can control the gain and crossover frequency for the amp. hope that gives some ideas and helps to keep your car safe.

I guess it would help if I could type, you're probably like why the hell should I keep quarters for tolls, supposed to be I use mine to keep quarters. Anyways, yeah, lighting/audio controls and stuff would probably go best in the ashtray, or anything small for that matter. I know one of the companys makes a CF insert for your glove box. I think it was RRM but I don't remember because I use my glove box (it's good at keeping stuff hidden). Let me know what you come up with!

NOS switch....J.k.

You could replace the lighter itself with an IGNITED push button start switch...that'd be hype.

I SWEAR TO GOD I JUST FOUND THIS WHEN I READ THIS POST~!
LOL i never knew it was there at all!

i think it would be cool to make a whole fiberglass enclosure over the cubby and ash tray both like a place for PBS and toggle switches for neon and a fat *** moniter would fit perfect....... hmmmmmm sounds kinda like the import tuner eh? if u can find the pics check it out. or i might be able to chop it.
