Brakes

I was just wondering if anyone has upgraded their brake system to 4wheel disc brakes? the stock brakes in my oppinion suck. going 80 and have to slow down real quick because of the jackass in front of you has his taillights out. If feels like the cars struggling to slow down, (brake pedals vibrates alot ect.) or I was thinking about a big brake kit, like that on an EVO or Brembo, AEM, BEAR, ect.

Vibration means you may have some problem in the system, and you should get it looked at.

There have been no rear conversions that I know of, and I think Wilwood makes the only big brake kit, which is about a grand.

Try running a search, you'll find lots of stuff about these things.

There are a few poeple out here who have 4 wheel disc. Very few of the dealers offered this. Try a search on it.

our cars are so light that rear disks would be almost detrimental to our stopping power...if too much power is applied to rear breaking, especially at high speeds the wheels will lock up and you'll lose all traction in the rear tires. Almost all of the weight is transfered to the front tires when breaking hard anyways. If you want more breaking power, go get yourself a pair of drilled rotors, drilled and slotted if you want more grip on your wheels, but too much grip will make the front lock up too, so watch out. Just my .02

mmm...perhaps not slotted, well i woudlnt' anyways...the biggest thing that affects breaks is heat. when you break hard, or for a long time, the pads heat up. if they heat up enough, the pads will actually melt and the breaks will become squishy. The best way to keep this from happening is just to get drilled disks, you can get a set for about 120 or somethin like that. Get the same size as stock, taht way you wont have to replace the calipers and pads. slotted disks will increase the actual grip that the pads have on the rotors itself, but our cars dont need that cuz lancers aren't that heavy and most of us dont have antilock breaks, meaing our breaks might lock and we lose all of our traction. so i suggest getting a pair of drilled rotors.

i always thought along with increasing grip, the slotted rotors helped with heat also, not as much as cross drilled, but still, if it wasn't useful then they wouldn't be sold by two of the top companies
