Has anyone tried this to their lancer ES 2003???

I am thinking of removing the "ES" silver emblem that is on the back of the car on the trunk I guess. I just want it to say "Lancer" not "Lancer ES"

My first thoughts were to put some gas behind it and see if I can loosen the sticky part that adheres it to the car. I don't know exactly what to do... I dont want to put any scratches on the car. If anyone could please give me some tips that would be greatly appreciated
Jason

Gas would be good if your trying to remove clearcoat as well....

Meaning dont use gas. Get a hair dryer and head the emblem up. That will cause the glue to become soft, and you should be able to wiggle it off. If not, try getting behind it with dental floss...

Yeah heating it up is the best way. PS there is a search function on the forums, tons of questions have already been asked and answered... try it.

WD40 contains solvents, and like gas will eat the clearcoat.
Pumice free GOOP and other hand cleaners work well for getting sticky greasy stuff off of our paint without damaging the finish. My bro-in-law works for the OK State Transportation Dept and that's the stuff they use. I used it to get decal crap off of my wing.

Cool

I found the heat gun works best!.

Note: After taking off any letters/stickers always wash and wax the area. To make it shine!

Best, Easiest way to do it...

get your mom's hair dryer
get a friend
have him aim the damn thing at each letter, while you LITTERALLY saw away at the back of each letter with Dental Floss(let the letters heat up a bit ofcourse lol)
with all the remaining goop (and yes, there will be some) take the hair dryer and keep heating the traces of goop a bit so it'll get softer... try to keep sawing some of it off with the floss, then what ever's left, use your best friend for this project... GOO GONE!!! lol, and softly rub the goop so it won't scratch or damage your trunk...

don't be like me... i let my uncle help me out takin the remaining goop and well, he wasn't as gentle... so now u can still see the letters a bit mainly cuz of the rubbing, BUT THE GOOP IS GONE!

you'll save yourself some money that way, and plus you won't have to give a call to macco or your friendly neighborhood body shop to do a quick paint job.... like i'm gonna have to lol

GOOOOOOOOO DEBADGED CARZ@!!
