hoods with vents

I am noticing a lot of people on this web site have vented hoods. I really like the look of the vents but i have 1 question, What about water in the engine bay, i am sure when you are driving you won't get that much water in the engine bay but what about when the car is parked? Can the water hurt the engine?

heck yeah, if it gets into your intake manifold. but those hoods are supposed to come with a plastic piece to cover it whenever it rains.

i have a CF hood that is vented in two areas.. the center and where the aftermarket intake would be. i've had no problems with it even when it rains

be real people. what do you think happens under your car? Water gets splashed up from under neath.

I have a vented hood and it is fine.

water will not get into your intake manifold as the filter stops water from getting in (unless it rains so hard that the ground fills up to the top of your intake and you suck water it) in which case youhave bigger issues.

if this was the issue, companies like AEM and INJEN would be out of business becuase of all the lawsuits... (water getting into engine) in order for this to happen the filter has to be submerged into water.. IMO a Bypass valve doesnt do sh*t. What about all the wrx's with the vents in the hood, there is no plastic covering it.

nope, not a chance, unless there was a massive flood of water up to your filter (aka driving through a lake) lol

no, that kit is totally bolt on. Only problem with it is that you will need to take off your front reinforcement bar behind the bumper to get it to fit right. www.body-kit.com sells the same kit but it is built so that the reinforcement bar can stay in
