How hard is it to install? do you just take the air box off and put that on over?

But they all do the same thing- more air, and they sit high so you don't have to worry about a foot of standing water.

You can make your own almost like the RMR ones i guess... there is a how to post out there telling u how to but the SRI that they made didnt look too reliable but then again that is just from looks, the RRM sri is 149 but that doesnt have a heat shield.

OZ66- you're probably referencing my Homegrown SRI series- I assure you they're quite reliable and affordable. If you just want to check fitment you can buy a fram cone filter with a 4" opening. That's what I started with. Now with the K&N butting up against the MAS adapter plate it just looks like a filter under the hood.

Give it a try!!

I asked the same question too.. They told me that its the intake pipe.. The air that passes thru it, the air vibrates around the pipe... But i said no.. Thats probably not true.. Coz when you have your stock air vacum or intake and just take out the filter, rev it, and it will have a loud sound.. [sometimes called open air filter/intake] So i think its the filter that makes it quiet or loud.. Stock cars use thick filters and intakes use thin ones... For better air suction...

if any of you are looking to buy an intake, buy it now when its cold outside. it just started getting cold around here, and all i gotta say is that my car's performance has been significantly better. i installed this in the summertime and i was wondering wut the hell difference it made coz it bogged alot. and now, my throttle response has been so much better and i only use 87 octane.

and as for anyone wanting to know how to install it, please search. but im giving you a break here and explaining it as well coz im just too damn bored. .. so consider yourselves lucky. its too easy of an installation..

- first unplug the negative terminal of the battery
- unplug cord from MAS
- take out the stock airbox assembly.. but before you take the whole thing out, you gotta pop the two clips of the airbox and take out the filter panel.
- upon doing this, you will see four bolts holding the back panel of the airbox to the MAS sensor. the easiest way to do this is to clamp the bolts inside the airbox with a vise grip so that you could unscrew it from the other side of the MAS. [it'll be easier if you have a friend hold the vise grip, instead of you holding it and unscrewing the bolts at the same time.] there is no need to take the MAS off the elbow and there is no need to disconnect the elbow either. the hardest part of the install is separating the airbox from the MAS.
- once that is completed, bolt the bracket provided with the intake to the MAS and then bolt the short ram onto the MAS itself with the bolts provided.
- upon completion of this, connect cord back to the MAS and reconnect negative terminal..
- start up your car and let it idle for no less than 15 minutes so that your engine will get used to the new airflow it is getting. [if you leave battery plugged, your car will not realize you have a new intake. so when you inevitably suck up more air, your engine will burn more fuel causing you to run really rich.]
- last thing to do is to gun it to 3k rpms and up so you could hear that lovely, lovely sound

if i missed anything, please correct me.. and now it doesnt seem too hard of a task does it?
