headlight swap

Hey guys

Learning a lot about my car still, so far I know that the Evo 8 has HIDs in it, so I am pretty sure that since the 02-03 cars are the same, I can use these on my lancer.

First of all will the stock headlights fit on my car?
Second how does the HID system in the evo work?
what I mean is how clean is the install?
also how much will this cost me?

thanks guys

No, the EVOs headlights are not direct fits for regular Lancers, they have a very different shape. The EVO lights can be made to fit, but it will look odd and cost some money....

actually I was talking abotu the whole housing cause i though they were the same shape

okay since that is no, lets talk about bulbs...does the evo also have the same 9007 single bulb headlight or is it dual?
i just figure that the evo HID kit might be easier to hook up than an aftermarket one
its not that I can't install...just somtimes its easier to go with something that is meant to be there

thanks

just go with a HID kit that fits the u.s. lancer, don't get the evo hid kit since it doesn't fit and an good quality aftermarket one would be better.

no, the evo has separate high/lo beams in it..not sure which bulbs, but i would guess 9005 and 9006..and as far as HID's being put in..you would need to get a 9007 kit.ifd you plan on keeping the stock headlights

If any are wanting that projector look like the evolution lancer has then you may want to check out www.illusion-lighting.com. They are very good at doing projector-hid retrofits into various cars. I think they will find a bi-xenon projector like used in some audis that is relatively new, and retofit it into your existing housing. They make it look very stock by customizing a piece to go around the projector so it doesn't look odd sticking out of the area where the bulb would usually stick out. They use only the best bulbs and ballast (phillips) and if you go with a phase 3 kit you will get the sharp cut-off beam pattern that the evolution lancers have along with the blue/purple flicker illusion that can be seen on cars like the evo. Anyone interested in a high quality kit should check this web page out. Warning: They are pricey BUT, you get what you pay for. Finally, I would like to say that if people would buy setups like this, it would probably reduce the chance of getting ticketed for bright blue uncontrolled light that so many aftermarket kits produce. Projectors keep light beam pattern controlled. For all of you wondering how controlled this light can be, check out the following....Look at the truck and the controlled light on the side. This is the way it should be.
