Question quoted on painting kit

I went to 3 body shops to ask for a price quote on getting my kit painted. Here's my scenario: I got a front Kaminari kit already painted just needs to be put on. I'm getting 2 Kenstyle skirts and 1 kenstyle rear bumper. I need to get the skirts and rear bumper painted/installed. One shop quoted me $750...another quoted me anywhere from $500 (minimum) to $750 depending on the kit. Does this sound right?

Also they said they'll have to charge extra if it has to be fitted more than it should, surface is bumpy, etc. Does Accolade kenstyle kits need extra fitment or is it direct install?

Yeah, that seems just about right. Thats one thing you have to consider when buying and than painting a kit. Your looking close to over 1k for kit/painting/install. Even more for a kit like the evoVII. Shop some more, 500 seems the best price ull get.

Seems pretty high. My shop did a great job, prep, prime and install of front, rear, sides, door caps, fenders, and spoiler, plus they had to fix the rear bumper (cracked completily in half during shipping) all for only $400. Plus they even repainted the rest of the car.

I paid $950 to have my kit repaired, painted, and installed. Repair costs aside, it was about $800 for fb, ss, and rb. I'd say $650 is about right.

Well....I dunno if stuff is cheaper over there in Kentucky, but I can't get those prices in Chicago. Went to one body shop that quoted me $1,500 for sideskirts and rear bumper , obviously they didn't know jack. The two that i got quoted 500-700 and the place that gave me straight up 750 are two legit places. The 750 shop does custom fabrications on lotta ricers, so i know they good for it.

thats actually the normal rate around chicago, for a legit place. most places will charge you between 700-800+ depending on the kit (full kit.....fb,ss,rb). i know a lot of guys that have gone the backyard ghetto paint job route, and let me tell you 90% of them are pissed. you can get those jobs done for about 200-400 depending on who you know (but you'll most likely get spider cracks, over spray, under spray, etc. etc.) i know it seems kind of high, but thats the normal rate. if you want to try one more place, you can check out OLVERAS. they're located on harlem and montrose, basically across the street from the cookie factory and norridge theaters. they're right next to a cell phone shop right on the corner of the street. he normally charges 700-800 for a full kit. since you already have the front bumper painted, it should be significantly cheaper. if you want, tell them manny sent you.

just install it yourself. its really easy, doesnt cost lot of money and you have the satisfaction of doing it youself. just put it on the same way you took it off with the exception of drilling some holes.

I was told similar things even for having something small like a spoiler painted and installed. The price seemed a bit high, but they said that covers all the buffing and fixing of fitament and imperfections they find. Basically what I need is to find a good friend who owns a body shop! Yay for discounts and deals!

Haha, you bet it will...

Not having to pay $800 for a body kit paint and install

And not having to pay $200 for a spoiler paint and install. Man I mean that is a set of nice rims and tires right there.
