Question stock shock life when lowered??

Hey all, i've gotta 03 OZ and i've wanted to lower it since i got it and I was attempting to save for the Tein Basic kit but its just so damn expensive. My questions are if I were to put "Tein" or "Eibach" springs on the car what am i looking at as far as life for the stock shocks? will sway and strut bars help, is camber going to be an issue? I know its a searchable topic but i'd like to hear some fresh answers from those with experience. Amy advise is appreciated, thanks!

if you go with tein, eibach, or progress, you shouldn't have to worry about it, the springs will be taking most of the abuse anyway, it may not be good for it, but its not reaaally bad for it

ive been on the boards for 10 months ish and ive never heard of stock shocks blowing with eibach, tein or progress....however the 'cheap' coilovers like shogun or something if they have it lowered 3" i think i heard someone say they blew there shocks/struts.

i also heard mirage shocks/struts work...and they have kyb adjustables for it but im not sure and ithink its for ES only i also heard eclipse 1g shocks struts work but i dont know for sure....

sure they are fine...but if u run it at a 3" drop and hit bumps really hard/fast expect ur shocks/struts to go BYE quickly

this is not necessarily true, it depends on the coilovers, i have a feeling the fellow above has a lower quality set up, i have the JIC coilovers, it isn't slammed, but its lowered nicely, no wheel gap, but they are quality and are made for abuse

tein- less expensive, good quality, good drop, better "feel" from what I've heard. Eibachs are supposed to have a ride that's very similar to stock but lowers the car.
adventon.com has s-techs for like $125 right now- that's super cheap!

i've had my progress springs on for like 18 months and still have shocks. i'm of course looking for upgrades, but don't really need them yet.

if you're keeping stock shocks, I would definitely go with a lowering spring if you intend to use your car for city driving. If you get a coil-over sleeve and use stock shocks, your ride will be bumpy has hell for city driving because the spring isn't progressive. the shock will have to take all the abuse from the bumps and if you go really low the stock shock will not have much room to dampen and the only other thing it will do is rebound so you'll be bouncing around in your car. Handling will be great though on smooth surfaces because of the stiffer spring but you sacrifice drivability. best setup is a true coil-over system because the spring rate matches the dampener. If you can, best thing to do is save up for this system (ie. tien basic coil-over) because you'll want this setup in the end anyways. don't waste your time and money putting on something you'll have to change later on. but if you just want the lowered look, go with lowering springs because u won't regret it as much when u hit big *** bumps or drive on a really bumpy road.

oh i didn't answer any of your questions haha... i read the other posts and was led off topic. anyway, it all depends on your driving. if you drive really fast over bumps your stock shocks won't hold up that long. but if you take it easy over bumps and avoid pot holes your stock shocks will last quite a long time with lowering springs. i don't think camber will be that bad unless the car is lowered past 2".
