I think my calipers are freezing up so i am planning on replacing them, any sugestions on websites to buy from? I was looking at Wilwood but they only make the 4 X 114 and i have an ES.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what are you talking about calipers with a lug pattern and freezing? i believe you mean rotors. you have the same lug pattern as civic from the years 89+ (excluding the si from 02+), so if you can find a brake kit or rotors or whatever you are looking for that will clear your wheels, then im sure they would work.

My caliper is jamming open causing the brake pad to rub against the rotor, this causes a annoying squeal. the callipers that i have looked at have mentioned that they are for 4 X 114 and I think the pattern for the ES is 4 X 100. is that clearer

okay, man your calipers dont freeze up, your bolt pattern is 4x100, and r1 concepts and grip force carries the rotors for the es. look---->>>> http://motors.search.ebay.com/lancer...s_W0QQfromZR40

Now as for willwood calipers, i think there was a link i clicked on yesterday for willwood calipers for the es. just do a search or click on some of the sites listed for es,ls,oz mod sites.

calipers dont have lug patterns, they encase the pads and push pressure on the pads to the rotors to make the car stop, rotors are what are bolted onto your hubs.

Hey OZ4G94, would a brake kit from any 4x100 work? Wouldn't it matter where the caliper was mounted.

they're just stating the lug pattern so you know its for the ls, and oz and not the 4x100 es

i wouldnt say any brake kit would fit, some may but not all will, but definitely any rotors will.

OK this makes zero sense. Have you looked at how your front bakes work? Or is someone feeding you this **** to take money from your pocket?

If it jams open then you would have no brakes at all. When you press the pedal it pushes the fluid from the master cylinder to the calipers to close them and stop the car.

If the calipers were stuck part way the proof would be in the pads. Is one set worn drasticaly different than the other set?

If it is there are 2 things that may be wrong.

One the caliper piston is stuck or hangs up in the caliper. Unlikely but possible. Solution? Throw it out and get a new one.

The other is the caliper is binding on the two bolts/pins that hold it to the bracket over the rotor. This is much more likely. Solution? Take the two bolts/pins out and wipe them off and sand the smooth parts with some fine paper and grease them with silicone brake grease and put it back together.

If it was my car I would change the pads and clean and grease those bolts/pins first.
