Trunk Bar

Hello Everyone.

This is actually a question based on a few howto's.... When proceeding to install a trunk bar, (sorry for lack of a better term ) I'm looking at my trunk and see that there are the black plastic trunk liner pieces, do the center's of those just get pushed out until they are no longer attached and you can remove the donut shaped piece?

subsequently to that, the pice of plastic at the center of the trunk latch does that need to be removed as well?

I'd like to kill two birds with one stone and install some new taillights and the rear tower bar, at once, dont know if the liner needs to be 100% removed from the car to do the install...

thank you for your input!

Got pics of your problem, I can't quite imagine it. When I did my taillights I removed the entire trunk lining but it wasn't necessary, for the bar though it makes things easier.

Here's my problem...# 1 can be unscrewed by hand... that's fine...#'s 2,3,4 if you notice have plug like pieces in the centers... do those center pieces need to be pushed in all the way to be able to remove the lining?

do keep in mind i will be installing a rear-tower sway bar...

It's not a sway bar, it's a strut bar. I think you need to push the pin in a bit and then the plug just comes out.

Yeah I did it that way, I think, it was quite some time ago. I removed my entire trunk lining a while ago, only thing that annoys me is you get increased road noise.

I just went to look at my trunk... when you are facing the back or the rear seats, there is that plastic trim around the opening.. is there a way to remove that, as well as the plastic piece at the front of the trunk that surrounds the bottom locking mechanism for the trunk lid? did those get removed to get access to the lining?

thank again

to remove the plastic ring around the opening in the seats, you just need to pop off the screw covers in behind the back seats and then unscrew them, then they will come off.
