help!!!!

Would it be ok to install a set of 225/55/R16's in place of the stock 205/60/R16's on my 2008 Lancer? I need an answer as soon as possible. Thanks!

So i got them installed, and to be frank, they look ridiculous. BUT... the grip when cornering is MUCH better. I would say that compared to the stock tires (when I first got the car and they were in good shape) I can comfortably take turns at 1/3 more speed than before. Installed were a set of V-Rated Toyo Proxes 4 225/55/R16. In theory installing a wider tire will give you a shorter front/back contact patch to the ground but a wider side to side contact patch, resulting in greater cornering traction. The side walls feel less stiff than stock though which is likely caused by the tire being wider than the wheel. Turn-in is less sharp but the sacrifice seems worth it. New tires are approximately .75" wider than stock 205/60/R16.

And to answer my own question, a 225 width tire can be made to fit a 6-8" wide wheel. Stock ES wheels are 6.5" wide.
