Steering column question

I couldnt find a specific place for this question. Im sorry if it has been posted before. I searched but couldnt find it.

I have an 02 OZ Rally. my steering column collapsed. After calling many dealerships, there are no OEM columns in the US and i cant wait the 4-6 weeks from japan.

So i got one from a salvage yard and the listing (i thought) said it was for a 2003 OZ. But when i got it today the description said it was for a 2003 evo.

My question is.. are the columns different enough that it wont work? am I screwed?
i know the 02 model number is MN101703 and the model number for the 03 evo is MN101704

Also.. is it hard to change the column? Ive never done that before.

Thank you for any and all help

It might work? I know we can use a evo steering wheel. I don't know of anyone pulling the steering columns and comparing them. If you do it let us know if it works.
