Car accident, need advice
Car accident, need advice
Some truck ran me offf the road last night on 80 east bound in NJ, i was in the right lane heading home at like 60mph since it was misty out, a truck was passing me, then came into my lane without any warning, i blew my horn, hibeamed the guy but he just blew his horn and kept coming cause he had to take the next exit, i was forced to swerve to the right, i was aiming for the off ramp of exit 37 so i wouldnt hit the guard rail in the middle. The car slid through the exit smacking the curb at 60mph. My Axle ripped out of my transmission, the ball joint broke disconnecting the wheel from the chassey, and the control arm and brake line were the only things holding the wheel...the ***in truck left the scene of the accident so i am basically screwed. How nice!....anyways..its in the shop and will be alright (hopefully) but i dont think, after replacing parts, it will ever ride the same. I do not know if the tranny sustained damage and i do not know how long it will last after everything is repaired. Should I sell the car after it is repaired? I have the 7 year 100,000 powertrain warranty but i do not know if it will be voided because of the accident. I dont know if
will find out i had the accident, but i plan on replacing everything with OEM Parts. If i take it to the dealer to be repaired, will they void it then? Should i sell the car after repairing it so I do not have to deal with Transmission problems afterwards? I know im gonna get the tranny checked out, but i dont know if i can fix it. Insurance should pay..but i need some advice...please help me. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Ankur J.

I did file a police report, insurance will cover...but everytime i tow the freakin car, the wheel bends back into the fender and bends it even more, then when they unload the car off the flatbed, the car wheels moves foward and kills the bumper...the flatbed is the only tow truck they can use since one wheel is just hangin off. I teared like nuts when i saw the wheel bending my fender. I love my car too much, i just felt a sharp pain in my chest and choked up tears. This was the first time my car has ever been involved in an accident, and it never had a scratch or dent prior to this incident. I babied it everywhere i went. Now I have a problem, and i dont even know if the car will be fixed and run the same way it used to.
As long as there is no frame damage, which believe me is hard to do, then the car can be restored back to it's former glory. If you don't mind walking for a couple weeks, that is. Post up some pics when you can, and people who know more about suspension and bodywork than I do can give you better answers.
Ill will try to post up pix today...I have talked to state farm, there is no way they will allow it to be repaired at the dealer because of labor prices, they only allow state farm certified locations. But i will get the parts replaced with OEM parts...hopefully it wont void the warranty.
Something every similiar happened to my wife in broad day-light. But this is what happened to our Lancer ( https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...78#post1954978 ). Can you believe the car was driveable from the scene. Now insurance is paying $7k+ for repairs. Good luck with the repairs...I really miss my baby too, been like over 2 months now.
