on the back of the oil container there is a sticker that has a letter inside a circle...the higher the letter the better the quality of the oil ... for example Valucraft oil would have a J rating and some name brand may have a K rating ... i just suggest not to buy Pennzoil ... they used paraphin (house wax) and that is just asking for sludge buildup. so yea anything is good besides that... and thats what the stealership put in my car DAMMIT !!

I went with Q advanced synthetic and a mastercraft oil filter cause my budget was a little lower than it was supposed to be, but the filter was easy to get off, but that dam drain plug was a botch and I rounded it off trying to get it off and had to go back to Advance to get a new one for $2, but my wife's grandfather paid for it! THe guy at the counter was an idiot though! I went and asked for it after I call and a girl said they had 2 in stock so I get there and I tell the guy 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer and after he searches he says " you sure?" nd calls another guy over and asks "You know who makes a Lancer?" I said " dude I said 2002, you put in 2000!" I mean WTF!!! Like I got in and know what part I need, but don't know who makes the car I'm driving, WTF!!!!!!! Some people in Jacksonville are stupid as hell! Anyway I got 'er done!!!! Body kit was too low for the ramps though and I ended up having to jack it up! Anyway, I'm out!!!!!!

im also using the quakerstate q advance 5w-30. i made the switch to synthetic because its suppose to help your engine run cleaner and lengthen the life of your engine. i think it was a good choice to switch, i replace it myself and it costs the same as having conventional oil done at the dealership.

go to this web sight.

Havoline and Chevron supreme are some of the best dino oils for the money, on sale as low as .55, Stay away from the Fram oil filters they are very poor quality. Wix, Purolator and Napa are a safe bet for the cash.

Sorry, just had to get that out of my system. Consult your owners manual, there's a diagram somewhere around there that will direct you to it. Unfortunately, I don't have any photographs.. but check it out. It'll tell ya from there.

Good luck

I have been using Quaker State advanced Full Synthectic for about 2 years, but I think the next time I change my oil I'm going to change to conventional. I saw a post in the engine tech section about synthetic oil and being bad for our engine. Basically BoeTurboLancer said that the oil pump has too poor a quality control from the manufacturer, which can cause it to loose oil pressure at low rpm with synthectic oil(synthetic is just too slick for a pump with loose tolerances to be able to pump it). I realize you are probably saying bull***t, but recently I installed an oil pressure gauge and have found that at idle my oil pressure can drop as low as 15 PSI when the factory specs are no lower than 28 PSI. I'm going to switch to conventional and see if it helps. Just FYI.

I have been running synthetic oil in my car ever since the first oil change. I have 37,000 plus miles on the car and I have not had a problem with it. Also I have used nothing but sythetic oil in my last two vehicles. My truck had 145,xxx miles on and I had no problems and my 91 Jetta had 176,xxx miles on it and it had no problems either.

I have used Fram oil filters for 11 years. Never had a problem with them and I will continue to use them. They must work pretty good considering I went 4000 miles on my last oil change and the oil was not that dirty looking.

Ive used Mobil 1, Castorol, Royal Purple. I have found lately that Regular 10-W30 with Lucas addative is working the best.

I have been using Penzoil and it turns dark brown right after about 1500 miles. Now I am using Mobil 1 Synthetic and it has been 1500miles and it's still gold-brown. I'm using FRAM oil filters, and they are not good. It's hard to find a good wrench that would fit them.
I'm going to use Castrol GTX regular oil with napa oil filters. Just because my friend's dad has been using that combo for a long time now and his cars are running for roughly 180k miles with only air filter and oil changes.
