funny question

Has anyone of you ever thought of changing your FWD US Lancer to a AWD US Lancer?
Is that even possible?

it's possible..but it will take a lot of money, and a lot of time. ford made a rwd v8 focus that put about 265 at the wheels. pretty amazing, but then you have to think about rally. peugot and focus are fwd on the street, but are made awd for rally..but it costs a lot of money..

Has anyone here done it with your Lancer?
Or you'd rather put the $$ on Turbo?
Or it costs way much more even than turbo?

more than turbo is an understatment. put it this way for you to do it would be more like just taking the money and buying a evo that has it .

thier are many topics on this search search search.

It'll cost more than $3500 for a Turbo. Considering all the Conversions that you'd have to go through...

Key phrase here is "Ford made". I've been to the Ford proving grounds in Yucca Valley and one of the techs there pointed out a diesel powered mustang. Yeah Ford makes a lot of things.

Oh dont worry its not that hard, my project is to make my DSM amphibious so I can just drive down the river to work. It shouldn't cost more than a turbo upgrade. j/k

'bout the cheapes way I could think of would be to find a wrecked evo, and buy the drivetrain. Then take a lot of time and do a swap. Seems to me like it'd work.

or u could find an old wrecked GSX or TSi AWD and take the engine/drivetrain/transmission

that'd be good..if the length from front-to-back axle is the same...might need to use an Evo but that'd be expensive...and probably not worth it. Might as well buy an Evo and put Lancer on the back instead lol

It's a lot more than just that. Things haven't been done like this for a reason.

Even if it was worth doing (I'd love to - if I win the lotto, that's my first mod), I'd guess that the Lancer is a touch underpowered for AWD. Turbo would probably be a necessity anyways, just to get enough power to all four wheels. But I'm a n00b too, so what do I know?
