It certainly can. Any clutch for a 89-94 2.0L DOHC Non-turbo. I've been using 1G DSM clutches for over 4 years now in my '03 OZ. Pretty good concept, too, considering that a stock clutch for the DSM will hold more than a stock Lancer clutch. And a "stage 1" clutch for a DSM holds like almost 300 ft/lb of torque. Enjoy!

You need to change both the pressure plate and clutch disc to use the DSM clutch setup.

Sweet....so would a stage 3 racing clutch with a lightened flywheel be too much for my lancer which only has basic bolt ons? (Intake + exhaust)

A stage 3 clutch would probably be a 4 or 3 puck clutch. You would hate yourself for installing it. The engagement is very harsh and completely unnecessary for your mods.

^Yep, plus there is a thing such as "too-much clutch" that'll not be good. A stg1 in the forementioned "DSM" setup will do you well...

From what I understand, 04s are slightly different. If I wanted to go this route, could I buy a 1G DSM clutch/pressure plate, and then pick up a throw out bearing from the local mitsu dealer that's designed for the 04 lancer?

I'm assuming everything bolts up directly and there is no modification involved?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The only thing different in the 04-06 Lancers in the throwout bearing and clutch slave cylinder design. The pressure plates and clutch discs are the same. The specs for clutches for 4G93 Mirages, 4G63 NT DSMs and 4G94 Lancers are the same. They are 215mm discs. The differences between them all is their torque capacities.

Are aftermarket TOBs available? Or is OEM the only way to go?

There aren't any aftermarket TOBs per say. There are OE ones that are made by other companies to "meet or exceed factory specs", etc. etc. etc. In reality, OEM is the best way to go.

Like I said, I have an 04. I've heard that the TOB they use is the same as the 1g DSMs and 4G93 Mirages. 2002-2003 do not. Can anyone confirm?
