clutches help me!!!
sup everyone i got a 02 lancer oz and i ive been having problems wiht it since the first month
the mont i got it it has made a knocking sound coming out of the tranny case that would disapear after you hit the clutch and then when you realesed it it came back but only occasionaly i had brouhg it to the dealership at least since then 8 or 9 times the car now has a little over 17000 miles on it (i drive alot) anyhow recently this strange squeeking sound has been comin out from under the hood it had happend once but it was pouring and i though maybe one of the belts had gotten wet (i didnt know) but anyways it happened the other day and i hit the clutch (because i got this habbit of pushing it down when im waiting for a firned or someone to come out) anyways i was pushing it down and the squeeking stopped so i was like ok. i had my firne dgte in the car i popped the hood and had my friend hit the clutch to see were it was coming from. well he was pumping the clutch and the strangest sound came out fo the tranny i describe it as the sound a lawnmower pull start makes when the coil uncoils anywhow this happend when the cluctch was engaged (peddle down) and stopped when diengaged he told me he felt it through the peddle i wa slike ok i got in tried it nothing happend so i played wiht it and then this grinding sound (not grinding liek agear grinds but this like grindgin like your brakes goin bad grinding) was comin out so i drove i to the dealer the next day cause it was like 5.
next day i hop into my car car is still makin that grinding sound but the coiling sound had come back btu this would not go away so i drove it slow to the dealer ont he way the clutch peddle would get jammed half way down causing the clutch to slip i kept goin cause it wasnt far from the dealer anyhow, i get there and talk to the service maneger he gets int he car is playin wiht the clutch he hears this "coiling" sound and get a mechanic outside he hears it tell me it could be one of a few things one: the throw out bearing has been blown because of a defect
two: the springs ont he presure plate have been like popped out of place
Three: the pressure plate is worn out
ok nwo the thing is if it was the throw out bearing or the clutch springs it owuld be under warrenty but he said if it was the pressure plate it would cost me 900 dollars to get fixed!!! well i dotn really have the cash to get it fixed so im about to go home and ask mom and dad for a loan im pulling out fo the mitsu parking lot im stoppped waiting for trafic to pass right clutch peddle down car in 1st car starts to pull clutch engages itself and car stalls im thnkin to myself wtf the clutch peddle went toaly limp (kinda like my d*ck after i get done wiht a goodhour of the nasty wiht ym woman)
but anyways i threw the hazards on got out and marched right back int here told them to hold the car
he tells me the will look it it monday witch is now tomorrow and they will tell me if i have to pay or not he told me in eather case to buy a high performance clutch and he will install it for nothing he told me ive had alot of problms wihtt he car and he will do this for me but
they dont make clutches for my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im looking to get a new clutch and flywheel but noone has them i dont think...i emailed tilton who makes like custom titanium/carbon clutches and they never emialed me back (i shot it off about a month ago) i dont knwo someone help me find somewere that has the clutch and flywheel if not juts the clutch this car is starting to **** me off this is the third time this thing has majorly busted on me one time one of the lifters on cyl 3 was over lifting and had a tap i had all 16 lifters replaced (no cost) another time one fo the oil fitting blew off on me i lost all my oil on noe were else but mcdonalds drive threw (no cost but alot of humiliatin) and the tranny has been goin for some time btw anyone know what might have caused the problem witht he tranny i.e. the clutch goin throw out bearings or the earlier knocking sounds?
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME I DONT THINK ANYTHING ELSE CAN GO WRONG!!!!!!

You are correct. When you buy a brand new vehicle, are are protected by a state or federal lemon law. The national lemon laws state, after 7 DOCUMENTED services for the SAME issue, you may be entitled to a new vehicle.
Of course, this is not without its limitations - the lemon law must be inacted within 12000 miles. That means the first DOCUMENTED occurance had to be within the 12000 mile period. Also, the dealer would have to attempt to fix the issue 3 times and fail before you can enact the law.
Sorry pal, but here is the cold, hard truth. A clutch plate is not covered under your warranty, it says so in your cute little warranty booklet. Since clutch plate wear is directly related to the driver's performace, it would be stupid for Mitsubishi to cover the part. Also, unless you had proof, like the kind that could stand up in court, stating the some defect in the vehicle caused the clutch plate to wear in this irregular fasion, the lemon law would be useless. I know this for a fact.
The guy sitting right behind me here in the office, is my best friend. He recently owned a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Coupe. A little known fact is that ALL Eclipses with the newest body style (2000 up) equipped with the V6 engine, have as of yet unrepaired fuel system issues that cause the fuel pump and computers to shut down under certain temp. condidtions. It is an even lesser known fact that this problem also affects all V6 Galants and the Eclipse's sister car, the Dodge Stratus V6. Mitsubishi is working on this, but let me put it this way, this problem was discovered back in JANUARY! We filed the first documented occurance of this problem, and since then, more and more have been reported. The cars are not fixed, and are being sold with the problem. Mitsubishi will simply swap the software when you bring your car for service, providing of course they ever write new software.
My buddy asked for a buyback from the corporate headquarters. After dealing with MANY *********, he finally got a settlement. He would get a buyback for the full price paid, and his down would be credited towards a new 2003 Eclipse GTS. After another 2 MONTHS of fighting the company, he finally got a check from Mitsubishi, but due to all the dicking around he went through, he went out that morning and bought an Impreza WRX.
The moral of this story is that Mitsubishi will not help you here. You can either pay the $900 you need for repairs, or let your car sit. You can no longer enact the lemon law with so many miles, and the clutch plate is not covered, so the lemon law would not cover it anyway.
That's the truth, sorry. I wish you luck. My only advice would be this: no more dumping the clutch, no launching at 3000 RPM, no speed-shifting or slamming the car in gear, keep your hand off the knob when you aren't shifting to prevent fork wear and for god's sake BE NICE TO YOUR CAR!
