My tranny started acting up real bad today! When I go to put in 1st the motor starts to bog down and wants to stall. Tried starting out in 2nd but its doing it also!!! Car has 145K, and I believe I'm the 3rd owner so I dont know what service has all been done!!!! Not sure what all to check... Hoping its not the clutch, and maybe its just something stupid!!! I would love ANY help that I can get to keep me out of the dealership!!!!

 

Hmmm. I would think you would have some crazy grinding if it was the clutch but not sure what else would be causing that. It sounds like it is the clutch, maybe try bleeding it first since it sounds like either there is air in the line or your slave cylinder is going bad, actually come to think of it sounds kinda like your slave. If its bogging down your engine then sounds like the disc is still good but for some reason the pressure plate is not completely releasing the disc.

 

when i went to take it to the shop today, I had my foot on the clutch and as I went to put it into 1st the car started moving while the clutch was fully engaged!!! The garage told me clutch assembly and slave!

 

It's your slave cylinder. Might as well put in a new clutch and resurface your flywheel while you're in there.
