loosing clutch pressure overnight.
loosing clutch pressure overnight.
I have an 02 lancer oz rally and I have changed the master cylinder. I got great pressure last night but today I started losing pressure. I then lost pressure altogether. I'm not losing any clutch fluid but air is getting into the system. Please help. Do I need to replace the slave cylinder or do the lines need to be replaced? also I have looked for slave cylinders for this car. does anyone know where I could get one quick.
As for where to get a slave cylinder, RRM sells one here: http://www.roadracemotorsports.com/s...roducts_id=773
This is the part and what it looks like.
It's a slave/TOB.
I called the dealer and got a part number and then picked it up from carquest for $120+tax myself.
You can also find them on ebay for $65ish + S/H but I wouldn't do this.
As for loosing pressure.
I'm having a hard time beliving that you can loose pedal pressure but not any fluid.
Jackup and support the car and on the bottom of your bellhousing there is a small (like 4") access panle to view your slave/TOB through.
It has two screws holding it.
Take it off and see what you see.
For sure there should be no fluid on the slave, if you see break fluid then you need to replace it.
Have you bled the clutch via the bleeder port on the slave like you would brakes?

I haven't looked in that access panel but I get air in the system and the reservoir stays full. My cuz works on cars and stated that it could be a small crack in the hose but I'm not sure. Where can I get he hoses for the car as well if u don't mind?
Ebay sells both the slave cylinder and you can also find a stainless steel clutch line on there. I WOULD reccommend buying these parts off ebay, as the TOB's are usually OEM and I happen to have the ebay clutchline on my car and have had it for the last 3-4 years with no issues, and the clutch feels great. The last 2 ebay clutch kits I bought had a weak clutch but an OEM slave so I would def go that route as far as the slaves are concerned. Dont buy from RRM, overpriced for the same thing. Even your local autoparts stores should have the slaves for around $65. Even our more expensive parts store here sells it for that cheap. Chances are good that its your line though, so buy a stainless steel clutchline and start from there.

As for parts stores having them:
Here in TN AutoZone, Advance and O'Reily all three don't have the slave nor can they get it.
CarQuest was the only place that could get it.
And they were about $5 less then Mitsu's dealer pricing.
But yeah I would say get it off ebay since it's OEM.
But first check for fluid through the panle.

If you can get it for like $65 at Napa that's what I would do.
I looked under the car and there was only one access panel. I opened the access and fluid flew out of it. he it thing in that panel though were my gears. this panel had six bolts hiding it in. I did not see any other panels. please help.
You need to top off the gear oil in the transmission before you drive the car (but don't do it yet because you'll have to do it again if you replace the slave).
The slave cylinder access panle is on the other end of the trans, right next to your exhaust.
It has two bolts holding it in and is shaped like an 'L'
You'll need a flash light and maybe even a inspection mirror.
But for real, I've done this job and I wouldn't do it for $300.
Pretty good price if you have to pay to get it done.
