Manual Transmission Fluid 75W-80 GL-3

This transmission oil is quite hard to find, especially being from DiaQueen. The dealership wants way too much and i was wondering if I could substitute it with AMS oil/royal purple/red line 75W-80 GL 4

yes you can, Mitsubishi told me that as long as you use AT LEAST what they specify, you are good.

like if it calls for GL-3, you can use GL-3 or GL-4 or GL-5, etc. but NOT GL-2, etc...

But...it has to be the right weight...i am sure you know this but others may not. And this particular weight was hard to find for myself...It took a few hours of searching and calling. Regular auto supply stores like Lordco, autosense, and Napa (canadian companies) did not carry the specified weight of oil.

So try racing specialty stores. Funny, a base car that requires a oil that only racing stores carry :P

This is weak. I went to Mitsu for mine and guess what? they only have the drum... im not bringing it in to them. Mr. Lube has it though so i might have to do it there... they said it would be about $100.00...

so much for doing it myself

i put royal purple 75w-90 and i have no issues with my tranny. After talking with a friend, you can put a little of the ATF in with it to lighten up the weight.

That may be true but you know that ATF is very high in detergents which could, but may not, break down seals prematurely.

And for Mr lube...I hope the 100$ come with a blow job... cause I paid 25$ for 3L which you use only 2.5L, so next trans oil change I only have to buy 2L which will cost me under 20$

^^This. i would enjoy a ******* during a tranny flush... but since you got your fluid for $25 (and im assuming its the right kind) you could at least state how you got it and where

I saw a few reports on here about the stealerships wanting $25/liter for the tranny fluid... $75 for fluid alone... to pay an extra $25 for Mr. Lube to do it for me is a small price to pay.

Gearbox oil

Red-line now makes 75-80w gear oil, I would strictly stick to that weight, cause the gearbox is designed around close tolerances and needs that oil, making it too thick can give some shifting problems, but this is the problems that I am having.
I have two lancer GTS in the family 1st gear syncros have gone at 47,000 miles, now the other 3rd gear syncros gone at 47000 miles. Stick to the GL number.

My gearbox syncros is being replaced by the dealer, now. I have used this oil in my Mazda 3.
http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=140&pcid=7
Its the same oil required by Mitsubishi. When you have a problem it has to be changed, NO OIL will help, trust me I have had numerous problems with syncros in alot of other cars.
As soon as I get my car back I will replace the oil. Here is another oil that the specs seems to be good. http://www.bgprod.com/products/driveline.html Alot of these products are sold by Road Race Engine Engineering. http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclfluids.htm .

I replaced mine at the 50 000km interval, and no issues. Syncros are doing just fine in my trans. The higher revs that your car is trying to downshift quickly will wear syncros. All they are is a little wet "clutch" in your transaxle trying to slow down or speed up the counter shaft. The more RPM difference your transmission has to match during shifts, the more your syncros will wear out. Drive nicely sometimes
