How do I measure the amount of preload? The factory service manual says to use solders, but what kind of solders? Like a soldering iron solder? Any input is much appreciated thanks.

 

Solders, huh? Weird. They mean shims.

 

Ya Like rosin solder. Says to apply it in two areas behind the bearing raceway and the transmission case and assemble it all back together. Take out the squished solders and measure them with a micrometer to see what size shim to use. So I think they do mean solder.
