What about it shifting hard not like as bad as he stated but just a little kick would it be the sensor also? Tranny isn't slipping it's not bad or anything like I said I just saw this and though maybe the sensor is going? Thanks!

input and output sensor. i had the same issue would shift hard and feel like tranny wants to come thru the firewall takes 5min to change them and fixs it bt do not replace tranny fluid.when your car shifts overtime gears wear out and all the gear residue is floating in the fluid helping your gears grip. if you change your fluid and get rid of all that material you could lose your tranny. for older vehicles i would never recommend a tranny flush.

I have an '02 OZ and it's kinda presenting the same symptoms as mentioned originally by EkS; however not as bad and not as often, maybe only one or twice a day. Mine also acts like it goes into neutral for a brief moment before shifting when it does act up. It only has 114k on it.

I had the fluid professionally changed, it seemed to clear it up for about a week, then the "hiccups" gradually returned. Therefore, I took it to the local Mitsubishi dealer for them to run their test on it. They basically couldn't find anything wrong besides a gritty substance in the tranny fluid which they contributed to maybe the clutch plates wearing down.

So, from the advice I see here, should I look into the input/output sensor also?

Thanks!

I had the exact same problem, nothing comes up at any parts store site. The actual OEM part #'s were superceded and the new ones are input:MR567292 and output:MR534577, a 2004 chrysler sebring 2.4 uses the same input sensor as the one we need. On rockauto it's in the electrical category, sub-category speed sensor, but any one that replaces the MR567292 should work just fine. Also the Standard Motor Products #SC440 replaces the MR567292 as well. I went with the Dorman 917-610 because it's a little cheaper(comes in tomorrow). I'd rather have an OEM sensor but I'm not about to pay $90 at the dealer for a sensor unless I REALLY have to.

Just like I said in an earlier post. I used a Dorman 917-610 input sensor. The only difference is the connector angle, but everything fits fine. The biggest difference, it's cheaper!

You're not going to find it in stores. Go to Mitsubishiparts.net and buy it! Not hard. And don't ebay it either.

Does this same fix apply to downshifting? My Lancer is having a hard shift going from 3 to 2 and often on to first if I have to do a fairly hard stop at a light or something. Going up through the gears doesn't seem to present this problem. It just started this recently and at 210K miles I figured it may be leading in to something serious as most transmission problems are.

I've also found a thread here: http://www.justanswer.com/mitsubishi...-shifting.html that talks about the same problem from a different angle. Does anyone think it applies to the problems described here?

Thanks.

so I am having the same issue with my tranny shifting hard i would say from 2-3 shift and some times from 1-2, the problem started after my rear torque mount broke and I drove the car few days with the mount broken, witch it was dumb by my part but, I replaced all my mounts with OEM, I could of just replaced the torque mounts but I did them all, it was fun until I got to the rear torque mount but job got done, I don't have a check engine light on, like the previous comment said, car has 168k miles, replaced tranny fluid at around 110k miles did not flush the tranny just changed with OEM tranny oil, tranny is not slipping, just adding extra information incase someone would ask them. what do you guys think could it be the input speed sensor also?
