Help from anyone with an RRM Stage II Clutch

I got the stage two clutch setup from road race last week and I had it installed with a fresh throw out bearing from Mitsu, this week. Now I have the car back and when I engage the clutch leaving an intersection it makes a rattling/scraping sound it also makes this sound sometimes when shifting from first to second and from second to third. I took it back to the shop and they say it sounds like a loose heat shield but none of the shields are loose and it only happens when I am engaging the clutch. I am looking for suggestions on what they may have done wrong. Or whether this sounds like maybe another case of bad genuine Mitsubishi Parts (throw out bearing)? Please Help.

Well the shop is claming that it is either a bad clutch and pressure plate from RRM or that that is how it is supposed to be so I guess I am pretty much screwed and I will never go back to that shop again. Again any suggestions would be appreciated.

i highly doubt its a bad clutch or throw out bearing. same exact thing happened to my buddy's ford probe. he had a local shop install a stage 2 clutch, and sure enough they messed it up. took it to another shop and they fixed it. he paid alot to get it fixed though. hope everything works out.

Ive also got the stage 2 clutch and i love. did you make sure that the shift linkage was fimly attached? i drove around for 2 hours not realizing how badly i had recconected it. May be a loose bolt you didnt crank on. im trying to think..... ouch.....id go with the hammer approach. hit stuff with a hammer(serious) and see if anything rattles. that can help you narrow it down. good luck!

OK they adjusted some things at another shop and the clutch stopped making any noise. So I have been driving it for the past few weeks and now the clutch doesn't pedal doesn't feel very stiff any more. Also the engagement is not as jaring as it was. Is this normal, am I just getting used to it, or should I take it back again?

i have the stage 2 and i know the noises that you are talking about.. and im pretty sure that its normal.. i get them sometimes as well .. my friend has a 6 puck and he gets the same as well.. he's said its normal for a racing clutch it. As for the softness.. this my opinion, mine got soft to0.. i think its because we have a hydrolyic clutch and it softness up after a while.. also with spring loaded clutches they tend to soften after awhile.. well i hope this helps a lil ..

Thanks for the advice mark. It was after I felt your clutch at the install day this summer that I decided I had to get it myself. I am glad to hear that yours is wearing in the same.

i got the rrm stage II and mine also makes that noise sometimes. the place that put mine in said sometimes these high performance clutches will wear down other parts in the transmisson making the pedal become softer, but it shouldnt happen till later on down the road....i just dont remeber what parts he said. ........does that sound right to anyone
