02 sensor

i have found out the my 02 sensor at my cat is bad, mitsubishi told me $225 to fix it, im not wanting to pay that much but i guess i will if i have to and my car needs inspection this month and since in north carolina they wont pass it if the check engine light is on. i have read about people putting the test pipe on a wiring something in to fool the computer to get the light to go out, so what i am ask is what do people wire in to do that and will it work even if the 02 sensor is bad and get it to pass emissions thanks in advance

if your o2 sensor is bad then you need to replace it...the sensor itself should be no more $80...o2 sensor nut @ your local auto store should be no more than $7...i say buy the o2 sensor and do it yourself...should not be hard..and dont forget to reset the ECU when your done

That $225 quote from the stealership sounds right. It's definitely not a cheap replacement part.

wait wait wait....are you stock?...cus if you are then it should be part of your warranty...o2 sensor should not go bad in three years unless you have 100k plus miles on it

i thought it would have been warranty also i didn't buy any extra warranty, i was thinking that the bumber to bumber warranty was 35k then engine and drivetrain was 100k, isn't that the standard warranty? i have 70k on mine, i have a CAI thats all i have for the engine then some other mods.
thanks
