Another thing you might want to consider if you're having trouble getting into 1st from N is depressing the clutch again and then trying to shift, it states in the manual that if it feels difficult to shift from N to 1st depress the clutch again.

Might it have to do with syncromesh? I think that first is the only non-syncromeshed gear or something. Something like that.

I've also noticed it get worse during cold snaps down here.

Well, sequential shifting can't be the problem, all FWD cars have it.. Hmm..

Well I cracked my own problem... It's me.

I suggest that nobody tries to "powershift" it. I used to do that a bit, but stopped. That wasn't the problem though. It's timing. I've noticed that you need to let your foot delay a few nanoseconds from the definite position of the shifter in 2nd. You could correct this problem with a short-shifter. I better go get one soon.

SO TRUE. That is exactly it. I still haven't even figured out the timine just right for 2nd. It's just very strange.

i had the same problem. try to not pull so hard or fast back on the shifter when going into second. it will help it go smoothly.

first to second a little grind occasionaly, but just keep your foot in it with a short shifter, and after about 12,500 miles mine straightened out.
It's almost as if the car has adjusted to my driving ability.

Like I said, I think the 1st gear is the only non-sycromeshed gear, so, that'd lead me to believe that the "problem" stems from that.
